The Project

A permanent home, finally.

The story behind Beit Shvidler Cheder Chabad — where we came from, where we're going, and why this building matters.

Our story

Built by our community, for our children.

Beit Shvidler Cheder Chabad started where every cheder starts — in a borrowed space, with a small group of families who believed our boys deserved an authentic Chabad chinuch close to home.

Over the years, we've grown. New families joined our community. Boys grew up, davened, learned, and brought their younger brothers in. We added classrooms wherever we could — but the building never grew with us.

We've now taken the most important step yet: we own 228 New Hempstead Road — a property that already houses our preschool. The building is ours. The vision is clear. We are now moving into the permits and approvals phase, with construction set to follow. A real, permanent home for our boys is no longer a dream — it's a plan in motion.

The vision

More than a building.

The new Beit Shvidler is a 20,000 sq ft elementary boys school — built from the ground up for serious chinuch. Here's what we're building:

  • Up to 18 classrooms — designed for real learning, with proper acoustics, natural light, and room to breathe.
  • Gymnasium & lunchroom — a full gym for physical education and a dedicated dining space for every child.
  • STEM rooms & library — modern spaces for science, technology, and serious learning at every grade.
  • Teacher lounges & principal's offices — a professional environment that attracts and retains the best educators.
  • 2,600 sq ft multi-purpose room — for davening, assemblies, and community gatherings under one roof.
  • Simcha hall — our community's dedicated home for celebrations and milestone events.
  • Renovated preschool — the building where it all started, brought into the future alongside the new campus.
  • Outdoor basketball court & multi-purpose field — a full soccer and football field alongside a basketball court, giving our boys real space to play.

Budget

Where the money goes.

Total project budget is approximately $7.5 million for the full 20,000 sq ft campus. Here's how it breaks down:

Construction
~$6M (80%)
Architecture, approvals & permits
~$500K (7%)
Interior & furnishings
~$500K (7%)
Contingency & reserves
~$500K (7%)
Why now

The moment is here.

We're 33% of the way there. The property is ours. Permits and approvals are underway right now, and the hall opens this summer — beginning to generate revenue toward construction. Once approvals are in hand, construction follows. The only thing between us and a permanent home is the funding to keep this moving.
